How do other IDE's solve this? Pycharm, VS Code, R-Studio ? Run and configure Spyder to use your python installation (link to more detailed docs on choosing interpreter).Does spyder-kernels have to be installed? A python interpreter is required for installing additional packages etc. We recommend xxxx (link to more detailed docs, for example to miniconda docs if they cover it sufficiently). If required, install a python interpreter.Download and install Spyder (standalone installation).A very short installation instruction can be included where the download is on the website, e.g.:.
Install spyder 4 python how to#
Does the standalone version come with some limited packages? This might give the impression that no separate installation/environment is necessary, but surprises users when they can't install packages? Perhaps have a first-start/do not show again type of dialog that appears when Spyder and its configured with the shipped/internal interpreter explaining that this environment is not configurable and link to docs how to choose a different interpreter?.Make clear that installing Spyder is just the IDE, and it has to be linked to a python installation/environment.As I mentioned above, I have not actually used the installer myself so perhaps I'm not the best to comment and I might be missing some things. That's a good question how to do this in a clean way. Hopefully the documentation / getting started guide will be updated and describe this what do you propose for that? We know we should improve our docs for it, but we're uncertain on how to do it.
